avoid discrimination because of characteristics of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origin), religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation
include so-called marginalised groups in planning.
We commit to:
encouraging equality, diversity, fairness and inclusion in all aspects of our work
treating all people equally and with respect irrespective of their age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation
creating an environment which promotes dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all are recognised and valued
monitoring the make-up of participants as far as is practical in meeting the aims and commitments set out in the equality, diversity and inclusion policy.
Accessibility:
all our meetings and events should be held in venues that are accessible to wheelchair users
when we organise events, we will provide places for carers where appropriate
we are committed to ensuring anyone is able to attend our activities, so we will reassess our access requirements to meet the needs of all participants.
Diversity:
the group is open to new ideas, and welcomes suggestions from any section of the community.
Dealing with discrimination and harassment:
if anyone feels they have been discriminated against by Turn the Tide Teignbridge members or harassed at a Turn the Tide Teignbridge event they should raise this with a director
Turn the Tide Teignbridge will investigate the complaint, listening to all involved. (If the complaint is against a director, that member will not be part of conducting the investigation)
if the complaint is against a particular individual, this person will have the opportunity to express their point of view, accompanied by a friend. The person making the complaint will also have this opportunity
if the complaint is upheld, the ultimate sanction would be to exclude the person from Turn the Tide Teignbridge and its activities. Turn the Tide Teignbridge will support people who feel they have been harassed or discriminated against, and will not victimise or treat them less well because they have raised an issue under this policy.
This policy was adopted at a meeting of Turn the Tide Teignbridge Directors
on…………23.11.2022, and will be reviewed at least every 2 years.
